Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.  ~E.P. Powell

Although I routinely record my Spoons (ala Mary Poppins) … It is my habit to compile a record of what I am thankful on Thanksgiving.

Amidst preparations for a dinner (during which we all blow and carb levels off the map! ;-) ) and the break in work weeks and simply having special family times … I ponder the year, the present and a bit of the future.

I decided to limit myself to a list of (my top) seven (the number of completion) this year.

Thankful as I …

  • celebrate one year anniversary of marital reconciliation with a man of great character, of quiet and gentle strength — who loves me in a way I never thought possible. (Even though both of us did ponder the “until death do us part” clause of our covenant! ;-) )
  • remain in awe of the literal miracle birth of my youngest son; and the pure joy he brings into my life.
  • embrace the memories made — and lessons learned — via mothering, home-schooling and walking alongside my three children. ( Even as I still grieve the estrangement of my eldest two … :-( )
  • rejoice that I feel physically well enough to host Thanksgiving dinner in my home — for the first time in six years! :-) )
  • delight in being totally stoked about my life right now! :-D Every single minute of it!
  • absolutely blessed with the world’s greatest friends and colleagues … They inspire and encourage me, and they are faithful and true.
  • dance (like nobody is watchin’!) over being a “Nana” to some awesome children who are an answer to prayer — and bless me with the sweetest hugs every single time I see ‘em!

So, what are you thankful for? Thanksgiving is a word of action …

♦ Holidays mix up a stout cocktail of reality for all of us; maybe we can look for unexpected blessings … Or be one for someone.
